In the final scene of this internal movie, the camera pulls back. You see that the Mother has grown translucent, fading into the very landscape the Child now walks upon. The Child stands on a mountain peak, looking at a horizon they finally understand.
They are separate, yet they share the same shadow. The “umbilical cord” has become a horizon line—invisible, unbreakable, and the only thing that defines where the earth meets the sky.
Lyrics
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child,
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child,
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child,
A long way from home,
A long way from home.
Sometimes I feel like I’m almost gone,
Sometimes I feel like I’m almost gone,
Sometimes I feel like I’m almost gone,
A long way from home,
A long way from home.
True believer, a long way from home,
True believer, a long way from home,
True believer, a long way from home.
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child,
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child,
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child,
A long way from home,
A long way from home.
