A raw Delta-style gospel blues inspired by the Parable of the Hidden Treasure. Slide guitar, stomp rhythm, and a simple blues melody carrying one of the shortest and most powerful teachings of Jesus — when you find something truly worth having, you give everything to gain it.
Scripture: Matthew 13:44
[44] ” Now Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found, and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field.”
Lyrics
Verse 1
I was walkin’ that old field,
Dust rollin’ ‘round my shoes,
Found somethin’ in that furrow,
Felt like a whisper of good news.
I knelt down in the silence,
Saw a treasure hid from view—
Lord said, “Son, what you found there
Is worth all you’re gonna do.”
Verse 2
I covered up that treasure,
Heart poundin’ in my chest,
Sold everything I owned then,
Didn’t keep one thing I possessed.
Folks said I’d lost my reason,
Said I’d gone clean ‘round the bend—
But when you see the kingdom’s glimmer,
Every loss becomes a friend.
Verse 3
So I bought that dusty meadow,
Where my secret blessing lay,
Gave all my worldly riches,
For the joy I found that day.
Now I’m singin’ to the wanderers,
Who feel empty and undone—
When you find that holy treasure,
You’ll give all to be the one.
Refrain (optional)
Well, the kingdom is a treasure,
Hidin’ deep where few will roam—
You can search this whole world over,
But your joy’s where you call home.
