Lost Sheep Blues

Scripture Luke 15:3–7

Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Lyrics

Verse 1
I was wanderin’ through the valley,
With no light to guide my way,
Had a heart full of trouble,
And feet that loved to stray.
I thought nobody’d miss me,
But somebody cared that day.

Chorus (optional)
Yeah, I was the lost sheep, baby,
One out of ninety-nine,
But the Shepherd came to find me,
Said “Child, you’re still mine.”

Verse 2
Storm clouds rollin’ over,
Night wolves in the wind,
I was hidin’ in the shadows,
Tryna cover up my sin.
Thought I was gone forever—
But He came callin’ once again.

Verse 3
He walked across the hillside,
Lookin’ high and low for me,
Said, “I won’t leave you lonely,
You belong where you should be.”
Picked me up on His shoulders—
Now I walk in victory.

Outro
Well, the ninety-nine were safe now,
But He still came after me…
That’s why I sing this blues line:
Love don’t stop at ninety-nine,
Love comes to set you free.
