A raw gospel blues song inspired by the parable of the net. This Delta-style blues reflects on judgment, mercy, and the moment when drifting ends and truth stands still.
Scripture: Matthew 13:47–50
47 “Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. 48 When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. 49 This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Lyrics
Verse 1
I cast my net in the deep blue sea,
Yeah, I cast my net where the water run free,
Some fish shining, some weighed down with stone,
Lord, when that net come up, every heart get known.
Verse 2
Net don’t ask your name or the road you chose,
Pulls up the clean and the crooked souls,
All swim together till the shoreline call,
Then the truth stand tall, can’t hide at all.
Verse 3
Good fish glisten in the morning light,
Bad ones tossed back by the Judge of right,
Ain’t no hiding when the sorting begins,
Net holds mercy, but it cuts through sin.
Verse 4
You can swim fast, you can swim slow,
You can drift where the dark tides go,
But the net keep coming, wide and strong,
End of the day, you gotta answer the song.
Verse 5
I hear the waves say “Choose today,”
Ain’t forever drifting your life away,
When the net comes up on that final shore,
Some go home free, some knock closed doors.
Outro
So I’m swimming straight with a humble plea,
Lord, let Your mercy carry me,
When the net comes tight and the day is through,
Let me be one You’re keeping too.
